Deputy Speaker, Katsina House of Assembly resigns

By Citizens Platform

The drama in the Katsina State House of Assembly has taken a new twist, as the Deputy Speaker of the house, Bello Majenwaiyya (PDP), from Charanchi constituency, has resigned his position.

Majenwaiyya who gave no reason for his decision, has been replaced by Idris Yakubu (PDP) of Jibia constituency whose nomination by Sale Magaji (PDP-Sandamu), was seconded by Halliru Atiku (PDP-Bakori).

It was rumoured that the former speaker was no longer in the good books of most of his colleagues who subsequently advised him to resign honourably or be impeached.

However, Honourable Danlami Kurfi (PDP), representing Kurfi constituency said that they wanted to make changes in the House for administrative convenience and had no intention of impeaching the speaker.

In another development, the Majority Leader of the house, Shuaibu Tandama (PDP-Danja) and its Chief Whip, Bala Yaya (PDP-Ingawa) have also been removed by the lawmakers.
