Western Digital announced the launch of three new models of portable drives. They are all offered under the WD_Black sub-brand, which replaces the Caviar Black series as a benchmark for the most efficient products in the Californian company's catalog.
The D10 and P10 models are based on disc carriers. The first one has a 3.5-inch disk, the second one has a 2.5-inch one. Therefore, the D10 requires additional power supply, and the P10 is satisfied only with the energy derived from the USB 3.2 Gen 1 transmission connector. The larger version is available in capacities of 8 and 12 TB, while the smaller one – 5, 4, 3 or 2 TB.
In addition, both discs can be bought in the Xbox One special edition. This one offers a housing with a console logo and a free scratch card for the Game Pass Ultimate subscription. For model D10 12 TB free the subscription includes 90 days, and for all others – 60 days.
WD_Black P50 is in turn an SSD medium, and not just any, because using the NVMe protocol and USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 interface. The manufacturer promises sequential transfers up to 2000 MB / s, regardless of the selected version: 2 TB, 1 TB or 500 GB. According to him, this is one of the fastest external drives in the world, allowing you to successfully run any game, regardless of the frequency of reading.
The price of the most capacious WD_Black D10 Xbox One Edition 12 TB is PLN 1380. The 8 TB model without xbox add-ons costs PLN 947. Turning to P10, prices range between 476-735 PLN, depending on capacity. Finally, P50 prices are to be announced soon.
