Android Auto will work without a cable with other smartphone models. The list of devices that support the mode of wireless connection to the car, next to Google Pixel smartphones are now also top Samsung devices.
As noted by the Android Police service, the updated list now also includes this year's flagship Galaxy S10 and S10 + and Samsung Galaxy Note 10. In order for the wireless connection mode to work, at least Android 9.0 Pie is necessary.
In addition to these models, the list also includes Samsung Galaxy S8 / S8 +, S9 / S9 + and Note 8 and Note 9. The lack of Samsung Galaxy S10e and Galaxy Note 10+ is probably just an oversight in the record, but at this stage we can not be sure.
Android Auto without cable – requirements
Android Auto won't work without a cable right away. The first start requires a cable connection with a compatible device in the car. From the support page, Google refers to a list of compatible receivers, but at the time of writing this link simply leads to the database of all Android Auto vehicles and equipment.
An additional necessity is the Android Auto application version 4.7. This is the latest edition, which most probably goes to the first users abroad now, where Android Auto is automatically updated from the Play Store. Soon the update will also appear in our catalog.
It should not be forgotten that, in addition to Samsung's top smartphones, Android Auto can also work wirelessly with Google Pixel devices from the first generation, and even with the Nexus 5X and 6P models.
The latest version of Android Auto can be downloaded from our software database.
